Today’s post is more like a rant.

I had recently interviewed for a manager position at work, it would be for another team that I wasn’t really interested in working in but they have more growth options. My interview went really well (thanks to ChatGPT for the interview question prompts that helped me practice) but they ultimately selected another candidate with more relevant experience. I thought this was fair and I was totally fine with the decision.

The hiring manager then told me that she wanted to hire me for another position in a similar role but it would be a temporary role (a two-year contract). The salary would be 15K more but I would lose my full-time benefits which would include a week of vacation (down to two weeks from three) and I wouldn’t be included in the group retirement plan where they match funds.

I decided that, at this point in my life, I need a full-time job and it’s not worth risking the full-time benefits.

Not sure if this was the best move but we’ll see what happens next!
