I lost the key to my wheel locks…

This is my first car so I’ve never experienced anything like this prior.

Wheel locks are used to prevent people from stealing your rims. Nowadays, most mechanics don’t recommend having them unless you have very expensive rims. Luckily for me, I don’t have very pricey rims so I didn’t even need the locks that I had on my wheels.

Since my mechanic was fully booked, I called the dealership to see how much it would cost me to get the locks removed so I can put on my summer tires and maintain the tread of my winter tires.

You wouldn’t believe the price they quoted me!

The advisor said it’d either cost $50 to use the master key for all four wheels or $400 to break the lock on each tire (this would be the worst case scenario).

I decided that if I had to pay $400, I’d just wait until my mechanic was available so I could hopefully save a few dollars.

I was really dreading the worst as I drove into the dealership. I’m also not used to going there since I’ve only gone to the dealership a handful of times, I’m not used to the dealership etiquette.

I think I’ve been holding back some pretty relevant information, but I own a Lexus so I was driving into a fancy Lexus dealership. The premium price is the reason why I don’t go to the dealership often but I knew what I was getting into when I purchased my boujee Toyota.

I told the service advisor my situation and how I lost the wheel lock key. I thought he’d have no mercy on me since he gave me strict dad vibes but to my surprise, he did the service for free! Of course, he said “let that be a lesson to keep your important items in a safe place” and then told me a bunch of things I needed to fix/replace on my car but I was just happy that I saved $400 on the worst case scenario!

So let that be a lesson to you, friends. If you own a car, don’t lose this!
